Early Career Distinguished Scholar Award
Dr. Paul Estabrooks
Dr. Paul Estabrooks was an Assistant Professor at Kansas State
University before moving to Kaiser Permanente – Denver Colorado.
Paul earned his Ph.D. at the University of Western Ontario, and
BPE, and MS at the University of Calgary. His research is focused
on using theory and systems knowledge to develop physical activity
interventions that can be readily adopted and sustained in standard
community and clinical practice. Of late, Paul has included the use
of multiple interactive technologies to support physical activity
change. Paul has published 50 peer reviewed articles, 7 book chapters,
and a textbook on the psychology of physical activity. For his work
developing and testing a state-wide, group dynamics based physical
activity program Paul was recently awarded the Cooper Institute Young
Scientist Award for Diffusion and Dissemination. In addition, has
received funding as a principal investigator from the National
Institutes of Health, American Heart Association, Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, and the Garfield Memorial Foundation.
